Our step-by-step guide describes how to email registration on your captive portal works. This method facilitates a straightforward and secure way to create an account, leveraging email for initial verification and communication.
User Experience
To initiate the guest connection, the guest needs to follow these steps:
Step 1 : Connect to the designated SSID.
Step 2 : Visitors are greeted with a captive portal where they can input their email address and accept the terms of use and privacy policy. Optional personal information (like First Name, Last Name, Country, Company, etc.) can be provided.
Step 3 : Guest click on "Sign up". Upon clicking the registration button, an automated process triggers an API call. This call generates visitor credentials and sends an email with the password to the visitor's provided email address.
Step 4 : To authenticate, visitors must return to the portal, select the login option, and enter their login (email address) and the received password.
Additional features for a robust registration process
- SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) Verification : SMTP verification to confirm the authenticity of the email address provided by the visitor. This step ensures that the email account is active and capable of receiving messages, enhancing security, and reducing the risk of fraudulent registrations.
- Mandatory Credential Submission : Require visitors to submit credentials during the registration process. This could include agreeing to terms of service, or providing consent for data processing, ensuring a comprehensive and compliant visitor onboarding.
- Auto-Connecting : Facilitate a smoother user experience by automatically connecting visitors after verifying their email. This feature eliminates the need for visitors to manually log in after completing the registration process, offering instant access to their account and enhancing visitor satisfaction.
