This article is used to describe the process to bulk import users with a lobby attendant account.
As a company, you might experience many visitors and even employees wanting access to the Internet for their personal devices or laptops. Often, as a company, a person is dedicated to doing this: A receptionist giving manual access. Thanks to the Lobby Menu, you can easily simplify this process and create and edit visitor profiles in bulk. These credentials can be printed.
This feature is useful and easy to use. Furthermore, it is very secure. You only have access to the visitor profile information. No other information is accessible.
As an Administrator, you need to check that Lobby access option is activated for your Administrators profiles. To customise your Administrators profile, please see our documentation (Customise the administrators rights with Profile)
Step 1: Create a spreadsheet file with user information for import
Supported file formats are .XLSX, .XLS and .ODS with comma separator
Information can be freely arranged but a header row with column labels is mandatory to help you setup the mapping in the next step.
Most fields are optional but please make sure to have at least an email or a phone field populated for each row.
|First and last name
Must be separated in two distinct columns.
Address must comply with RFC-2822.
Number format must comply with E.164.
Can be set either globally at the next step, or individually by specifying the profile name in the spreadsheet.
Can be set either globally at the next step, or individually in the spreadsheet, dates must comply with the ISO 8601.
Can be set either globally at the next step, or individually by using boolean values in the spreadsheet.
Step 2: Import spreadsheet into Lobby Section
Open the Cloudi-Fi dashboard and go to Users > Lobby (here you will see a list of Account that have already been created as well as how long that access is valid for) Once in the Lobby section click on Import.
Click File Upload and choose your spreadsheet.
Once the file is processed, press Next.
Next you will be prompted to map the columns from the spreadsheet with the Values within Cloudi-Fi then click Next which will finish the import. (Follow any error messages for formatting issues based on information in prior steps).
On identifier conflits
- Create a different user account (default): if you want to add a user that already exists in our database, it will create a new account (identifier of this new account will be an uniq identifier UID)
- Update the existing user account: if you want to add a user that already exists in our database, it will recycle this existing account and update the information.
