How to set up Cloudi-Fi Captive Portal in Extreme Networks WiNG (without Radius)

Step-by-step instructions on how to set up a captive portal with Extreme Networks WiNG and Cloudi-Fi for user authentication.

 

Use case

The following sections will provide step-by-step instructions to enable Cloudi-Fi cloud-based WiFi Captive portal service with your existing Extreme Networks WiNG architecture.

Note: To apply and to make the configuration persistent after reboot, don't forget to click on "Commit and Save".

 

1. Configure the DNS Whitelist

Go to Configuration > Services > DNS Whitelist and add a new whitelist

Add the following FQDN and tick Match Suffix

cloudi-fi.net

2. Configure the Captive Portal

Go to Configuration > Services > Captive Portals and add a new captive portal

2.1. Basic configuration tab Settings

  • Name: CAP-Cloudi-Fi

  • Captive portal server mode: Internal (Self)

  • Connection mode: HTTP

  • Access type: No authentication required

  • Term and Conditions page: Ticked

  • Client Access time: should be equal to Cloudi-Fi Session Lifetime (Cloudi-Fi UI Portals menu Session lifetime)

  • Inactivity timeout: Equal to Cloudi-Fi Session lifetime

  • DNS Whitelist: Cloudi-Fi-Whitelist

 

2.2. Web page tab

  • Web page source: Captive_Portal_Webpage_External

  • Agreement URL: Copy the Splash page URI location from the Cloudi-Fi Admin UI Location menu

  • Welcome URL: https://login.cloudi-fi.net/success.php

  • Save

 

3. Configure the WLAN

Go to Configuration > Wireless > Wireless LANs  and create a new WLAN

Go to Configuration > Security

  • Enforcement: Captive Portal Enabled

  • Captive Portal Policy: CAP-Cloudi-Fi

 

4. Enable Compliance (option)

Please follow this step if you have subscribed to the Cloudi-Fi compliance option.

Go to Configuration > Wireless > Wireless WLANs and edit your Guest WLAN

Go to Advanced:

Forward To Syslog Server :

  • Enable: Ticketed

  • Host: Provided by the Cloudi-Fi Support team

  • Port: 514

  • Proxy Mode: None

  • Save

Then go to Configuration > Devices > System > Profile and edit the AP's profile where the Guest WiFi is enabled.

Go to Configuration > Security > Application > Visibility:

  • Enable DPI: Ticked

  • Enable Application Logging: Ticked

  • Application logging level: Notification

  • Save
